Application for HU account / New user registration

The HU account provides credentials to access most HU services.

The Computer- and Media Service of the HU (CMS) provides several services to all HU members. Many, albeit not all of these require an HU account to access. These accounts are created via user's application.

  • Students of the HU & Charité create HU accounts using our online form. Please be advised that entered data needs to match enrollment data in full, including all given and last names.
  • Employees of the HU hand in applications ideally via email, alternatively via inhouse mail. Please fill out the form in full and physically sign the application before handing in. If you do not have an employment contract with the HU, you will need sponsorship of HU team leads. The form contains necessary fields for this. (DE/EN)

    The above form includes the application for employees working for the university administration.

    Please be apprised of the hints in regards to filling out the form, and the guidance for new HU accounts (DE/EN). The application is processed by the user help desk of the CMS within two business days of receipt.
  • Special accounts for the purpose of non-personal and/or single subject matter correspondence, and teamwork can be request by employee of the HU with valid employment contracts. Common use cases are thematic offices, secretary teams, conferences, or central contact addresses for courses and HU processes. (DE/EN)
  • Transfer of special accounts is handled between new and old responsibilities. Superiors may substitute signatures, should the current owner no longer be available. (DE/EN)
  • Accounts for specific services
    • Moodle: HU accounts can access Moodle right away. External users without HU accounts can register with private addresses.
    • Websites: To host websites on the HU's central WWW server www2.hu-berlin.de or in our Plone instance, employees of the HU may apply for hosting space. (Application (DE)).
    • Databank service: Employees of the HU may request databases to be hosted by the CMS. General hints can be found here (DE). The application process (DE) uses inhouse mail.
    • Library users and students of other educational institutions may use our public computer workstations with their library accounts. Registry for library accounts can be filed directly via the university library's website.
  • Employees of the Charité cannot apply for HU accounts. Please contact the IT support of the Charité for assistance.
