During the exam
-
Do all exam takers have the same questions in the exam?
You should not necessarily assume this. Exams may contain random questions, i.e. questions are drawn at random for each examinee from a pool of comparable questions.
-
Does the submission happen automatically at the end of the exam period or do I have to click on a button ("Submit" or similar)?
As a rule, a submission button must be clicked finally. There is a clear feedback that the submission of files or the answering of test questions is completed.
Be sure to take the opportunity to participate in mock exam offerings to go through the exact process.
-
Can I hand in the exam before the end of the time available to me?
Yes.
-
Can examiners require me to have my camera on?
Yes, if on the one hand the examination was announced as a closed book, and on the other hand the way it is conducted was announced as a video conference.
-
If my computer breaks down during the exam, can I use another device to log back in for the exam?
Yes, you can. Please note, however, that time will continue to run. You should inform your examiner of the problem.
-
What if I have to go to the toilet during the exam?
In principle, you can go to the toilet at any time. If you are taking part in an examination with video observation, you should ask the lecturer to come to you using the zoom function "Ask for help". Inform the lecturer of your absence so that you do not suffer any disadvantage (suspicion of cheating) if the lecturer drops by your virtual examination room during your absence.
-
What if I click "No" on the explanations (data protection, health, rules for examinations)?
You can only take the exam if you agree to all the statements. If you click on "No" for one of the explanations, this will be considered as a non-appearance for the examination.
If the non-appearance remains unexcused, the examination will be assessed with a "fail".
Otherwise, a non-attendance that is excused with a valid reason is considered as a non-attendance.
Special regulations according to BerlHG § 126b do not apply here.
-
What happens if I make a typing error in an automatically corrected exam (e.g. in cloze texts without selection)?
If a typing error does not distort the solution in such a way that it is not recognisable what you meant, statements with typing errors are considered correct.
-
What if my internet connection breaks down in the middle of the exam?
Please make a note of the time of the breakdown. Then try to restart the computer or browser. Log into Moodle (again). You can continue your exam from where you left off.
You should inform your examiner of the problem and ask for an extension of the writing time. You can then clarify everything else with your examiner.
-
Who can I contact if I have technical problems during the exam?
Your examiners should have already given you a contact option before the examination (in the examination course). The contact persons are always the examiners or other appointed supervisors, who are supported with a handout on help options.
-
Will there be a possibility to ask questions to the teaching staff during the exam period?
Yes, your examiners should be available to you during the exam. This can be by telephone, chat or video conference and will be determined by your supervising examiners.
-
After submitting the exam, will I be shown that it was successful, e.g. with a confirmation email?
You will receive an e-mail confirmation after submitting your examination results, provided that the performance in the module "Assignment" or in the module "Test" was completed in the Moodle course and your lecturer has not turned this off.
-
What do I do if, in my opinion, the camera is used too much or forbidden?
Please first try to point out the (data protection) problem to your examiner. Perhaps your supervisor simply made a (technical) mistake.
However, if you were unable to clarify the incident in this way, you can contact the responsible examination board with a request for clarification.

What data is transferred to the HU Zoom Meeting when I dial in via the Moodle plug-in?
If you are already logged in to HU-Zoom, then only an email comparison will take place and no data will be transferred from Moodle to HU-Zoom at all.
If you are not logged in to HU-Zoom, your username will be transferred from Moodle to the HU-Zoom meeting.
If you want to avoid the transfer of data from Moodle to the HU-Zoom meeting, you can also copy the (joining) link, paste it into the browser, enter the meeting ID from the end of the link and the password (see Moodle plugin). This way you join the HU Zoom Meeting pseudonymously.
